For me, it was about introspection; learning my values, my current life reality, work reality, facing my Gremlins, understanding what I was truly hungry for, and what my personal brand feels like. I found my bigger game – and identified the bold moves I needed to take to get there, both for myself as an individual and also for my market within Mediacom. I left with an action plan; I would share my bold moves, build allies, use strategies to face my gremlins, and cascade this new thinking to my wider teams.
Having the chance to share with other women who I’d never otherwise meet, gave me a renewed energy and confidence. It was also fantastic to connect with female and male senior management such as the regional CEO and WW Chief Client Officer of our Group company, and listen to their personal experiences of getting to ‘the top’.
To me personally, attending a Shine programme empowered me to not only start prioritising myself as a person but also gave me courage to pen down my bold moves and more importantly commit to myself to delivering on them. The spirit of “we are all in this together” was definitely infectious and powerful. Post the training, I signed up to take the lead at Mediacom on all initiatives to train, coach and mentor women and men in Singapore to become better and more holistic and self-aware leaders. I also raised my hand to expand my role and take on a larger team with more diverse clients and skillsets, to keep growing and learning from experience and exposure, and I have been writing about my experiences as a leader and working parent in the press.
